About North Wales, PA
North Wales is a borough located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. One of the three historic communities that formed the North Penn Valley region, North Wales today is also considered a bedroom suburb of Philadelphia. Originally a rural community established in the early 18th century by Welsh settlers, North Wales grew into its present suburban feel with the introduction of railroad lines into Philadelphia, later replaced by high-speed trolley lines. Today, North Wales’ historic architecture and past has been recognized through the establishment of the North Wales Historic Preservation District.
Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury in North Wales, PA
Generally speaking, you have two years from the date of your accident and injury to file a lawsuit against those responsible for your injuries. Under certain circumstances, this limitations period may be paused from running. For example, when a person under the age of 18 is injured, the statute of limitations generally does not begin to run until he or she turns 18. Or the court may pause, or “toll”, the statute of limitations if it finds that an injured person did not and could not reasonably have discovered the facts giving rise to his or her claim (such as being unaware his or her injury had been caused by a defective product). If you don’t file your lawsuit before the expiration of the statute of limitations in your case, the court can permanently dismiss your lawsuit.
Most personal injury attorneys work on a “contingency fee” basis. This means that the attorney does not get paid unless and until the attorney obtains compensation for the client through a settlement or verdict at trial. The attorney is then paid a previously-agreed upon percentage of the client’s total financial recovery obtained by the lawyer; any costs of the case that were paid by the attorney, such as court filing fees or expert witness expenses, may also be reimbursed from the compensation award or may be covered under the attorney’s fee.
